Forţa ultrarapidă de reacţie a Alianţei Nord-Atlantice va fi pusă în discuţia celor ce conduc ministerele forţelor armate, din statele aliate. Concomitent vor fi evaluate şi variantele previzibile ale evoluţiei agresiunii militare ruse în Ucraina. Una din îngrijorările statelor membre ale NATO fiind timpul care va trece, din momentul unui atac răsăritean, până la sosirea primelor unităţi aliate, teoretic fiind acum stabilit la 48 de ore. Acestei îngrijorări i s-a dat deja un prim răspuns, simbolic, dar pragmatic. Este vorba de anunţarea, de către Jens Stoltenberg, pe 30 ianuarie, a dislocării unor militari aliaţi, în Letonia, Lituania, Estonia, Polonia, România şi Bulgaria. Aceştia vor acţiona, alături de militari din ţările gazde, nominalizate, pentru organizarea de exerciţii NATO, în statele respective. Ei vor îndeplini şi atribuţii de comandă şi control, pentru noua forţă de reacţie rapidă a Alianţei, care urmează a se coagula, instrui şi consolida pe parcursul acestui an, pentru a fi gata de acţiune în cel mult 48 de ore, de la declanşarea unei agresiuni militare, de către Federaţia Rusă, care consideră NATO drept un inamic potenţial.
